The upper, outermost sash on vertical sliding windows determines if it is a “single hung” or “double hung. ” If the upper, outermost sash is non-movable, then it is a single hung window. A “double hung” window refers to both sash having the ability to slide up and down for ventilation purposes, and these sash locks can fit on both model types, in addition to some left/right horizontal sliding windows.
