Encausticbord is made from our premium warp resistant 1. 5 profile FSC Certified Hardbord that is sealed and protected with our proprietary Archiva Seal and coated with a specially formulated gesso to form a bright, smooth, velvety surface that is ready to use for encaustic painting. The ground is heat resistant, highly absorbent, and holds tight to layers of wax without the fear of cracking or separation. Encausticbord is a collaboration between RF Handmade Paints and Ampersand Art Supply. Only Ampersand builds cradles by hand with premium grade, 13 ply birch plywood for maximum stability and a clean, finished look from edge to edge. Choose from 1/8, 7/8 and 2 deep cradles, offering support and presentation all in one. The velvety smooth, absorbent Encausticbord surface is a great with pencils, charcoal, acrylic, collage, water based markers and more.
