At $79.99, it's hard to dislike the Beats Solo Buds. Certainly, ANC would be nice, as would wireless charging. The former would've eaten into the impressive battery life, however, and the latter made the case bigger, and added to the overall price.

Apple has just launched its first pair of affordable true wireless earbuds. No, I'm not referring to the AirPods but the Beats Solo Buds. These earbuds from Beats, an Apple subsidiary, costs $79.99 a pop.

The Solo Buds are a smart play for Beats, and I have no doubt the company will sell a lot of them. They’re good enough for most people, even without features like active noise cancellation, transparency more and wear detection.

The Beats Solo Buds True Wireless are decent for neutral sound. They have a generally neutral sound profile with a boost in the mid-range that brings voices forward but can also make them sound honky and harsh. They have enough bass to ensure mixes sound full.
