Players: 2 to 4

Preparation: each player chooses a piece. Place all the pieces on the space with the bird of paradise to start. The youngest player goes first. Play proceeds clockwise around the table.

Gameplay: everyone then has their turn at throwing the dice and each player moves their piece the number of moves on the dice they have thrown. Pieces can land on the same space, but be careful, because if you land on a space with one of the following symbols something special happens on the Inca trail!

- Iguana (spaces 14 and 24): an iguana tells you which way to go, but unfortunately he has pointed you in the wrong direction, go back 1 space.

- Brown snake (spaces 1, 11 and 33): oh dear, there’s a snake here! Look carefully before continuing, skip 1 turn.

Red snake (spaces 19, 27 and 39): you are chased by a red snake - turn back 2 spaces to escape.

Llama (spaces 2 and 12): the llama helps you on your way - advance 1 space.

Armadillo (spaces 5, 16 and 30): this armoured animal guards your journey - advance 2 spaces.

Toucan (spaces 7, 22 and 35): this cheery toucan flies ahead to show the way, advancing you by 3 spaces.

Winning the game: the first player to overcome all the obstacles and land in the centre wins the game (you don’t have to throw the exact number of cases to finish).
