Glycolic acid has a smaller molecular size and therefore penetrates the deeper layers of the skin. Both acids break down the glue that holds dead skin cells together. Lactic acid has the added function of rebuilding the skin’s natural moisture levels and so it’s more hydrating. Lactic acid is more suitable for sensitive skin because it functions at the upper dermal layers. What is the actual percentage of lactic acid in the solution? The percentage of lactic acid in NMF which is free to work directly on the skin is 5.34%. I have dry / dehydrated skin. Will an acid toner dry out my skin?
