Open pan cooking- 5 cups of water for 1 cup of rice. Closed pan/microwave- 2cups of water for 1 cup of rice. (The rice may require slightly more or less water to cook depending on how hard or soft the water is) add 1 tbs of butter or oil or margarine, and add salt to taste. Open pan: in a large cooking pot, bring water to a rolling boil. Add the drained rice and stir gently. Cook uncovered for 6- minutes on medium heat. Drain and rinse with more boiling water. Strain excess water and serve.
